Doom 1.2, Knee deep in the dead. On a tiny little switch with my mate Muttley.
Later, when mrs Brat moved in I built a second PC so we could play Need for Speed 2 against each other. Plenty of beer fueled racing
My first Internet game was the original Unreal Tournament, spoiled a little by the Freeserve 2 hour cut off and 20 minute map downloads off servers, it was still fantastic.

Of all the games I have now, nothing comes close to the enjoyment I had on COD4.
In the HQ we had our lunchtime fragging sessions, to improve our lag times I bought a Netgear router and installed it under my desk. I called it "Geezers palace" and the password was "RubberSheets"
A few times we had about 7 or 8 people playing, generally it was 4 to 6.
Then, as is the way of things, people started to move on, postings or heading civvy side.
That's why I look forward to the LAN's, COD4 with 30 people can be even more fun

Personally, BF2, BF3, MW2, 3 and Black Ops 1 & 2 don't have that "something" that COD4 had. It was still a game, the later ones became too serious, too many perks, no dedicated servers. No more the Romero's that made games they like to play and became almost Rockstar famous for, they're all becoming Carmack's. Bigger, better, louder, brighter but ultimately... Emptier!

well said scaley ............. i think the game i got most pleasure from over the yrs was "desert combat" and the early yrs of "counterstrike" not forgetting "tocca3" , "flatout" and "project torque"... hours of fun.

funny enough i had a bash on CSS last night, done quite well too for an old git who hadn't played for ages , i actually won a game

Project Torque was brilliant! Free racing MMO...

I've fallen off the gaming wagon at the moment. I couldn't give two shits about CoD Ghosts, and BF4 enthuses me even less. My comp is still the Core 2 Quad I've had for years with an old GTX260 and I don't have any enthusiasm to up it any more than that.

Saying that, I recently spent 700 on a valve amplifier to go gigging with. I suppose that's a good enough marker of where I am right now...
