Default GOR 24 TF2 Tournament

Team Fortress 2 GOR24 Team Tournament

This time the GOR Lan will be hosting a Team Fortress 2 Tournament, as it is easily accessible to everyone going to the lan, as it is free. It is also a much loved game within the Game Veteran community.

The tournament will be either 5v5 ( 6 teams ) or 6v6 ( 5 teams ) depending on how many people want to participate. Also people who have not paid the 31.50 entrance fee will not be allowed to participate in the tournament on other people computers this makes it a lot easier to admin the tournament and also makes it fair for the people who have payed.

The tournament will be hosted as usual on the Saturday and will run for most of the day.

How it works?

When you get to the Lan you will need to access the intranet which we use and make an account, this wont take long at all and this is where you can sign up for any tournaments that will be played at the Lan and see any other events that might be going on.

About midday Saturday when everyone that wants to compete in the TF2 Tournament has signed up, the teams will be randomly generated and a captain will be picked within your team. The captains job is to make sure all there players know when and what server they are playing on which will be put on the intranet.

Tournament Layout

After talking to some more members who will be attending the LAN, I have decided that it would be easier and a lot more fair to do a normal league if we have 5 or 6 teams within the tournament however we will still be doing a final with the leader of the tournament only having to win 1 or 2 games depending on how much time we have got and the team in second place with have to win 2 or 3 games.

Double Elimination if 4v4

The tournament layout will be a double elimination with the first set of matches being randomly generated this will make for a much more competitive layout and a great final which we could possibly show with the use of Source TV.

The double elimination works like a normal elimination layout however there are 2 brackets the top bracket being the winner bracket and the bottom being the loser bracket. Once a team has lost its game in the winners bracket they will be put into the looser bracket meaning they still have a shot of winning the entire tournament, however if you loose a game in the looser bracket that will mean you are out and will be given a finishing place accordingly.

Example : 4 Teams

The Final of the Tournament will either a possible 2 match game or possible 4 match game. The final for the 2 match will work like this, the team that has come from the winners bracket only has to win 1 game and the looser bracket has to win two. In the 4 match game it works the same other than the winner bracket has to win two and the looser bracket has to win 3 to win the tournament. This should hopefully make for a much better and interesting final especially if we can have Source TV on in console corner.

Rules
  • All TF2 weapons can be used in the tournaments as no weapons are overpowerd or needed.
  • If player disconnects from the game 5 minutes into the game then the game will be reset or paused if possible.
  • Make sure your team are all on the server 5 minutes before match start

Updates on Rules to come depending on questions.

Maps

This will be updated with maps to be played when i have thought of the best type of maps/game modes to play in a competitive environment.

If we can record source TV that would be great as i could easily make a frag video of the tournament to put on our youtube channel.

Please feel free to ask any questions about this tournament and i will answer then as quickly as possible.
