Lol, that used to be a an unreal tournament mod with the same name.

Me, Chaos and Boozemeister played it at an I series lan about 5 years ago.

Its good to know its been turned into a source mod as it was a great laugh in co-op mode.

Thats the thing, it's not a mod but a fully fledged game.

I am trying not to get too excited about it as they have attached this onto the release that they are focusing more on - the new Source SDK. Making a mod with steamworks integration, acheivements, etc, etc... So it could be just a demo of what the SDK can do and not be that brilliant, or go the way of their last tech demo (Portal) and be chuffing amazing.

Here's a story with some screens on it and the old mod

Its more a way to compete with the udk(Unreal Development Kit) from Epic Games.

There has been a mssive jump in indie devlopment due to the udk and i think steam is trying to get on that band wagon. Now most of you would say the sdk has been around longer then the udk if fact that is true however the sdk has always been focused on modding around current games since the launch of the udk this has changed to a point where you can create brand new games. We should start to see more indie games being released for free with both the udk and sdk now having the communitys to devlop games.

Anyhow just my thoughts.

I agree Razor, the UDK has already released a few excellent games like Dungeon Defense (http://www.udk.com/showcase-dungeon-defense) which was on last months PC Zone DVD. As the songs say "Things can only get better". The PC as a format is on the decline due to piracy and the Indie developers are what started off computer gaming many years ago. Young lads like myself (Back in 1982 tapping in code throughout the night in basic and machine code to develop a game that you then sent off to C&VG magazine (Yes it used to be a magazine). This is what PC gaming is all about. A platform where anyone is free to write their own game without the restrictions that consoles have where companies like Microsoft and Sony completely lock out any ability to develop homebrew software. When all said and done the best games of yesteryear were developed by young lads sitting in their bedrooms.

Just remember Codemasters, Bitmap Brothers, Ocean, Melbourne House, Gremlin, Epix, Microprose, Jeff Minter and Rob Hubbard who all started as bedroom companies and went on to take the world by storm.

I love indie development as it usually has something new and innovitive rather than another FPS shooter.

Downloaded and all I can say is...

The Source engine has never looked so damn good!

Gameplay feels alot like Left4Dead, except in a top down view and not a FPS with a similar focus on using health and ammo in the team and also sticking together to get through it. And it does look fantastic when you rewind to what CSS looked like before they lent a bit to hard on the "bloom" button.

just been playing this and it is great fun, me damon and calsendon were raping house
this game is very tackical and if you dont know what you doing or dont pretect the main guy for the mission then u end up failing.
harder difficultys got a liitle borning when a mission that we only compleasted about 10 min ago now seams like nails :P the 3rd person is a little complicated at first but easy to get uesd to :)
the levels are not hard to climb and unlike some games when you unlock things they are deffinetly better than the suff you star with :) and with the wepons brings more tactial play into the mix with some unlocks meaning that you have less range but you cant friendly fire and you wepon slows people down meaning that the game become more who goes first other than who can kill the most monsters ;)
the end review of each level is very good because it doesnt just show you what happend with score ammo health and kills but it also shows you on a mini map where each player was :)
the game is a bit predicable after you have died a few times but im sure game veterans like our selfs wont die, were too hardcore for that

but yes it is worth a download
it was taking us about 30min to download but that was at like 4-5am
but please download this game is is very good and gets you working in a tight team
